Working inside the house - Munkálatok a házban

So rough plumbing and electrical started inside the house. I would've never thought that plumbing and electrical is such a complex job to do...It requires a professional, that's for sure:) It's fascinating to learn new things or just see how they differ from what I remember seeing as a child growing up in Europe. I'm sure things have changed there since then (I was about 6 when we built our house back in Hungary).
So what I can see here now is black plastic vent pipes and nice copper pipes...By the way, seems that someone else also liked our copper pipes and wanted to take some with them. Just a day after they had been shipped, about a 7 feet piece was clipped off and stolen. Good thing they couldn't steal more...Since then we make sure the gates around the property are always locked:)

Back to the house...Thanks to Richard 's hard work ( our electrician) not only pipes but electrical wires are running along the walls like a giant spider web. We had to put on our "designer" thinking cap and decide where to put all the outlets and recessed lights, taking into account the furniture arrangement.
What I've been enjoying most is  - of course -  designing the kitchen, the heart of the house. Since the style of the house is modern, I've chosen stainless steel appliances, cherry cabinets, nice, dark granite countertop (called blue pearl) and contrasting light countertop and dark coffee cabinet color for the island. I'm attaching the layout and a sample photo of what I use as inspiration for our kitchen.

Szóval amit most látok itt, azok egyrészt fekete műanyag csövek a szellőzéshez, ill. réz vizvezetékcsövek.
Visszatérve a házra: Richard (a villanyszerelőnk) kemény munkájának köszönhetően most már nemcsak a vizvezetékek, hanem a villanyvezetékek is hatalmas pókhálóként hálózzák be a lakást.
Természetesen a konyha tervezését élvezem a legjobban.

rejtett világitás a konyhában.

A színes dolgokat a szarkák is szeretik...:)

We've moved in!! Beköltöztünk! :)

I can hardly believe that - even if it's still not official - we're in the house! I am way behind with posts, but here I am:) So I left off with some photos of the kitchen and master bedroom. As soon as we put a bed in the master bedroom around early September 2014, we could finally move in. It felt like being newly weds, with just a bed and a chest of drawers there, but we were happy campers to sleep in a king size bed! :)
Along with that I could also start using a bigger bathroom. Wayne figured it out that the propane tank could actually be hooked up on the gas line, so we had hot water in the bathroom.
Since then we've finished the railings on both balconies, and some touch-up work in the kids' bathroom.
My happiest moment, however, was when I could move in the kitchen! It happened in early January 2015. Oh boy, how long I had been waiting for that moment!
Now I'm a happy owner of a nice, big kitchen. Some touch-up work still has to be done, but there's n…

What is it like to live in a motorhome? Milyen is egy lakókocsiban lakni?

Since it takes a few days for the concrete to dry, I thought to "take a brake" and show you around in our little, cozy motor home :) Though Wayne is an expert when it comes to living or traveling in a motorhome, I had no idea what it was like, until we first were "introduced" to this guy. It's a 1985 36' Titan, and still running. Of course a lot of stuff have been replaced or changed in it. Until about 3 years ago, my parents-in-law used it, and as far as I heard, they had had some adventurous trips, as far as Alaska, British Columbia etc. Well, seems that after 20 years it was time for a change, so they bought a nice new Rexhall push-out giant, and we "inherited" the old one. As a new "homeowner" I had to learn how everything worked. By now I've been familiar with most of them...air conditioning, gas stove and oven, ceiling fans, shower and bathroom (well, that's kind of an exaggeration, since there's only a sink and a toile…

Hello everyone! Üdv mindenkinek!
